Hey there! Welcome to my online portfolio. My name is Reinier Simons and I am an architect working at (design) Erick van Egeraat in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. During my time with Erick van Egeraat I have gained a specific skillset in designing covering a complete range of scales and project phases. I have graduated for my master studies in architecture at Eindhoven University of Technology in 2014. For my graduation project I designed a new town hall for the city of Almere, based on a renewed and revolutionary type of democracy which was specifically created for current challenges within local politics in the Netherlands. I graduated for my bachelor studies with a project on slum upgrading in Africa, by developing a new building system with my project ally. Lots of nice people have been kind enough to showcase this bachelor design, including Designboom, Worldlandscapearchitects, Revistaplot and numerous blogs and online magazines.

During my studies, I have been on an exchange to the National University of Singapore in 2013, which is where I experienced the facets of architecture in a tropical climate.

What I like to do in my own work is to push boundaries and to create unique, clean and machine-like structures with a clear sense of space, that responds to contemporary needs and (future) issues.

I think that the work you will find on this website reflects all these characteristics and will show my ambitious designs. This website was created with ease-of-use and user-friendliness in mind.
